All God's People

All God’s People is an organization that ministers to the needs of homeless people in the Chicago Loop area. The second Saturday of the month we set up a distribution center on the corner of State and Van Buren where we hand out clothing, blankets, toiletries, and food. The need is great. We serve 500 or more people who wait patiently in line to receive items that meet their basic needs. These are our brothers and sisters who for whatever reason ended up on the street and through it all continue to praise Jesus. They know He alone is able to protect, provide, and perform the miracles they are looking for. It is an honor to serve in His name – a blessing to share a smile, a word of encouragement, or a few moments to listen with a caring heart.

OneWay - Reach People

Kate Kavanaugh works with OneWay, which is a family of media and missions ministries. Through both modern tools and time-proven methods, we come alongside the Body of Christ in fulfilling her mission to make disciples of all nations. From producing Great Commission media resources to inspire and equip believers, to training and sending church planters who serve among the unreached, we help people reach people.

She serves with the young adult ministry at OneWay through Summer Internships and Gap-Year Residencies. They are focused on activating young adults (18-29) to exalt Jesus Christ and advance His Gospel to the multitudes. They do this through practical ministry experience, intensive discipleship, and community. So many students have God-given skills and passions for the Kingdom, but no practical way to “go”. OneWay is here to help with that, awakening hearts for Jesus, inspiring dreams for the Kingdom, and engaging hands in the Great Commission.

Jesus himself said, “the harvest is plentiful and the workers are few”… I am working from of this call to pray, and invite more workers to take part in the abundant harvest.

International Missions

We believe we are called to go above and beyond our local community and support international missions. We believe this because the Word of God calls us to do this as the church in Matthew 28:19 which calls us to go to ALL NATIONS. Below are the missionaries that Hickory Creek Church currently supports.

Therefore go and make disciples of ALL NATIONS, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Missions in South Asia

We, Dr. B.S. Azariah and Mrs. Sasikala are serving in South Asia with a vision to teach the Word in its Biblical Context and meaning and also with details of application to the present church in its context and situation. Many pastors and leaders are passionate towards the ministry, which is mainly winning souls, but they are unable to nurse the believers with the sound Word of God. It is due to the lack of theological and leadership training to these pastors and leaders.

There is a need for a full explanation of the Biblical context to which many do not have access.  They travel to not only to different towns, but also rural villages to train and teach these pastors in Biblical knowledge and all of the basic skills needed to lead a church and make disciples. They conduct many seminars for pastors and leaders reaching a few thousands of pastors so far, and they also reach Sri Lanka.  The larger vision is to have a theological training center where pastors can come and learn. For now, it is a traveling ministry.

Wycliffe Bible Translators

Ed and Jan are linguists working with Wycliffe Bible Translators and have spent many years living on the island of Hope in SE Asia, with the T people. They learned the language of this jungle people, and  trained a team to translate the New Testament into their own language. Now based in the US and working via internet/satellite connection, they continue to work with the T people and 4 other language groups to translate the Old Testament into their languages. Ed and Jan are being asked to find ways to help national teams begin translation in the surrounding language groups and work has begun on the New Testament in 3 languages and also two language groups have begun translation of Luke and the Jesus film. A deeper understanding of the newly translated Scriptures in these believers’ own languages, has resulted in their own cultural expressions and songs of worship, along with growth in their life in Christ and with one another. Ed and Jan experience a family relationship with many of these SE Asian friends, and also have two children and eight grandchildren of their own.
